Pump not priming -circuit control relay?

Any chance it could be black? I mean, this one physically fits...

Google suggests Jit is, as ever, on the money.

That black one is probably one of the ones from the front relay box, maybe like the aircon relay. I say front relay box and by that I mean the one that normally sits by the bonnet catch. Yours is probably on top of the fuel tank or somewhere similarly obscure

Haha si you're still a legend in my eyes ? on second thoughts, don't dig out them photos on deleting the loom from the bay ? I believe this is one of the funniest threads I've read so far on fdoc!

My vote is the inletmanifold have been cracked open and its been wire tucked. itl be in there

Hang on, I've been looking over diagrams and googling... Is the 'circuit relay' merely the fuel pump voltage control relay?
If it is, then that's not my issue, as I know I ripped that lot out.
I'm going to have to get the trim off and see if there are actually any wires going to that part of the fuse box...

Edit: hmmm, actually, p110 of the electrical manual seems to suggest that's in the long relay box that bolts to the battery terminal.

Double edit. Aaaaah, p104 suggests I might be barking up the correct tree....

I'll try and jump it tonight. Fingers crossed.

Lmao xD I thought the voltage was controlled by the fuel pump resistor which is found under the brake master cylinder :/ doesn’t this switch the voltages for low and hi speed pump? And wtf that pic is pointing to the circuit control relay no? Just when you think you understand your car.....

My interpretation of this is the ‘main relay’ is the circuit control relay, the fuel pump relay is the one next to the circuit control relay in the black box, and the fuel pump relay (speed) is the one that’s in the long single box under the hood?

So that circuit control relay is where the juice goes to first. If this relay isn’t energised then the rest of the circuit for fuel pump and injectors etc cannot energise. Once circuit control relay is energised it then activates the fuel pump relay which is what primes the pump.

I think if you fit a circuit control relay you will have life :) but then again I could be reading the diagram completely wrong

Yeah, the resistor does control the voltage, but there's a relay that switches it in and out of the circuit. Looks like that's in the narrow box, and the one I'm looking at is the simpler on/off one.
The other alternative is that I did what I've done elsewhere, removed the need for a proprietary relay and put in a holder for a standard 40a auto relay somewhere else... :D

Edit: on the same wavelength dude, I concur! Cheers for all the help figuring out my own work!

Haha usually our instincts are correct, we just need a 2nd opinion.......and no.....leave your wiring alone! You’ve done enough already! :ROFLMAO:

Right. It wasn't that relay.
It turns out that I've removed it from the loop already, and, as I had a vague suspicion, used an easy and cheaply available auto relay that can take the bigger current the 044 needs. I wiggled the relay a bit and cleaned the contacts - woohoo! I have prime!
Unfortunately it's now pissing out fuel, but on the plus side, this bit of it is working! Thanks for all your help people!

:ROFLMAO: Typica FD Fix one thing 2 more break. Glad it’s sorted, let’s hope after the leak it’ll give you a break and not throw up anymore surprises

Just stick in another relay in the boot and use the Fuel pump wire straight from the ecu to control the relay? then that way you can get rid of all that shiz, relays and resistors?

That will give you a constant 12v to the pump which is a fantastic upgrade all fd owners should do, however I don’t believe doing this will bypass the circuit control relay as that fuel pump wire you speak of (white/red iirc) isn’t live until the circuit control relay is energised, which then livens this wire up along with the rest of the fueling circuit.

I could be wrong but looking at the wiring diagram that’s how I read it. :/

There's currently fuel all over the floor of my garage, the last thing I'm doing is gettimg s soldering iron out/rewiring :D
But yeah, that's what I've done, and why the relay in the stock location is out of the picture.
