Afternoon all, happy new year.
For those not and those in the FB group, I was wondering if people were keen for another event this year. Bicester last year was a good turn out and always lovely to be there, but I felt lacking a bit in atmosphere and goings on. So after some searching about for somewhere interesting and in a central enough location for all, I wondered about Shelsley Walsh.
We could have the paddock and hill completely to ourselves for the entire day - Sunday the 26th of July - it's the only date they can do. I've not been but I'm lead to believe they have a cafe, the paddock is undercover, so provides great photo ops and wet weather options. Unlimited runs on the hill with no sound limit, so abit of action as well.
It would need to be £80/car to cover the hire and insurance, and we would need 130cars to make it work.
I would leave this open to all out rotary engined cousins....but as always expected FDs and 7s to be the vast majority.
What are peoples thoughts?
Happy to look at other locations if there are ideas(most tracks are too expensive or too quiet). Finding somewhere centralish, that can hold 100+ cars and has all weather options is tricky.
Thoughts on a postcard please.
*admin apologies if this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move accordingly.

To clariy..the paddock is open sided sheds . Sadly I cant make it.

I'm fairly interested, I'm hoping that soon (maybe not this season) I'm going to start doing hillclimbs in mine.
Just need to fix some problems and then go for it, the list never seems to get much shorter though :/

I'll add you to the list of increasing maybes!
If my car hasn’t exploded like all previous summers then it’s a great idea. I’m in !
No worries, I'm hoping we can get this across the line as a group, I've not been before but its an epic location.

possibly maybe keen if things line up but maybe not just incase, but you never know theres a chance?!

Great to get the interest, cheers lads. If you aren't in the FB group and want to be drop me a message and I'll get you added. I think there are some whatsapp groups about, if you are in those please engage everyone to vote on the poll I put up last night.
It's the best part of 10k with insurance to hire the place for the day, so we need a full compliment of 130 cars to get it to wash it's face. I'm happy to pay the deposit if we can get 100 showing keen, as I reckon we'll make the difference up in between.
Any questions, please ask. Cheers.

Regrettably I don't think this will happen. I've tried asking the FB group a couple of times to rustle up a bit of interest but general numbers just aren't there, about 90 or so showing keen, we need 130 for it to pay for itself. at 10k for the hire it's a serious chunk of change for me to lay out if we don't get the numbers. Open to suggestions.

I'm interested in doing the Shelsley Walsh day but until my car is back up & running I'd have to say no. It would be a great event & having the chance to go up the hill would add a special dimension to the day. £10,000.00 is a chunk to lay out without firm commitments, is there a cut off date you have to sign up by?

In no particular order.
Its open to anything rotary at the moment rather than the wider mazda brand, which is how I think it should stay, I think it would loose its appeal as an event otherwise.
Not everyone has to be on FB, I've taken in to accountant you guys on here, and the few that have messaged privately. I think many would rather just have a static meet and fear the hill for whatever reason. I have the attention span on a gnat so standing about all day doesn't hugely appeal to me.
bicester have come back to me again, checking to see if we want their hangar again this year. I've asked them to confirm the cost of that + their track. It would be noise limited but would add that dynamic element I think needed.
Let's see what they say and I'll report back.
Shelsley are now starting to chase me for confirmation, I've asked them to give me a couple more weeks, naturally they've said no problem, but if someone comes along prior it'll go. which is fair enough.

Good call on having access to a track and limiting the event to rotary specific cars.

Other marques was just a suggestion to make up numbers.

Noise limits will likely be an issue for most places. I reached 112db at Brands on a street port IWG single turbo setup with 2 silencers!!!

I feel your pain, my jaaaaaaaaaaag hit 115db back in the summer. the hill has no sound limit which is very appealing, Bicester I've a horrible feeling is 96.
