I'm back bitches - it's probably about time for an update!
The car went to Josh in March 2025, and due to various reasons the engine didn't go in until May - I haven't got the build pics just yet but I went all black everythannggg just like before. Engine wise just as a recap, along with your standard rebuild kit - 2nd hand rotor, reground housings, new pumps, RA Super Seals and then from Colum, stud kit, balancing & rotors clearanced. Josh on the porting and assembly. I paid for injector flow testing for peace of mind, didn't actually get the results looking back but my positivity would like to think someone would have said if there was a problem!
May 2025: I had written out a little termination plan for the ECU wiring - Tom at Advocult was very helpful at running his eyes over it for me! I decided to start doing bits myself on the car to speed things up, dash out for removing what I no longer needed etc. Got some nice spec44 wire for the additional sensors (fuel pressure/temp, oil pressure/temp, boost solenoid). I'd also spoken to Stu here re finishing the car once the time came (it would have been in-car wiring and then start up/ tune).
Summer 2025: not a whole lot happened to be honest, the car really only needed a couple of solid days allocated, but it was a bit of a challenge getting that booked in for various reasons... I also got a couple of extra bits like an uprated starter motor & tank baffle.
June stuff July stuff
Autumn/ Winter 2025: not the hugest amount of progress, it was a few hours here and there, order parts, then repeat - it felt like the car was very much a back burner piece of work. Got the car over to Stav in September for a new midpipe & metal oil return - the previous had some heat damage. Hoping a big middle box will help keep the thing quiet ish with the new porting style. This is all 3" still - possibly change that up once we've actually done some miles.
Jan 2026: end of the month - the bay was pretty much done & engine holding fluids. Plugged the ECU in and went for a crank - it did so and had oil pressure. The car needed about a solid day spent from here.
Feb - March 2026: ordered a couple more bits, an ECU connector had broken & the clutch master had gone where hadn't moved in so long. I started enquiring with other shops to finish the car as I was getting frustrated and really didn't want to miss out on another summer. Tom had a fairly long waiting list, so I decided to book in with Stu (for May). By the end of March, the car needed the in-car wiring, master cylinder bleed and the wastegate fitting. The plan was to sort the wiring with Josh, or Stu said he could sort if it didn't get done in time. I also sold my rep wheels, tbh the colour & finish wasn't a bit of me, and if I refurbished I wouldn't have been massively off a nicer set of wheels money wise. With that, I won a set of old Work VS-MX on eBay - 18x8.5j ET45 18x9.5j ET38 - planning to rebuild and add 0.5" or 1" wider lip to the fronts and 0.5" to the rear, if that keeps offsets sensible.
April 2026: I got more frustrated here for a few reasons. For the most part the car was out of sight out of mind, but nice weather reminded me that I do actually own my dream car

and I really wasn't comfortable with where the car was being kept. I decided to get the car back to mine nearer the end of the month. I can't even put into words how good it felt to have the car back and give it a clean - it was covered in over a year's worth of dirt & mold!
May 2026: prep for Stu... I could finally sort my sunroof, which actually wasn't as bad as I thought... Ground back, kurust, paint, new drain hose and it passed the leak test. The in-car wiring didn't get done, so I labelled stuff up for Stu, emptied the crap from the car, made a ground and off she went! Was awesome sitting down with Stu and going over what needed doing - that was honeslty a massive anxiety delete

. So at this point it needs my extra sensors wired in, wastegate fitting, clutch bled, fuel, tune, start. Will we be on the road this summer?!?!
