2002 HKB kit issues

Hi all,

Hoping someone has had the same issues I’m having so can help me out. I bought a HKB boss kit (air bag) for my FD but the connector on the car is not the same that’s on the drawing. So nothing connects up as it should.

The connector on the drawing is from the older models, I wonder if Mazda changed it later on in production.

Has anyone come across this before? I’ve contacted the seller also.

Early cars did indeed have a different connector than the later cars for the clockspring.

The box part that you see on the diagram is likely just a resistor to fool the Air Bag system into thinking that the bag is connected and therefore not throwing up a warning light, which would be a fail on the MOT etc.

Been a while since I installed a boss on my car so I can't remember specifics of the resistance etc. But I'm presuming you have the parts to connect?

I do have the resistor to plug in and fool the airbag system but obviously it won’t fit into that plug . Either driftworks have sent me the wrong model hub kit or I need to buy the old version clock spring and hope that works .

I never found a boss kit that actually had the correct connector. I just bought a spare clockspring, cut off the connector and crimped in the resistor.

I have a 99spec car with a HKB hub kit. I don't remember having any issues but mine is slightly different (it has cruse control buttons built in).

I'm going to remove the air bag bulb and be done with it
